OT100 Old Testament Survey

This course teaches the CASKET story method to learning the Old Testament: Creation, Abraham, Sinai, Kings, Exile, Temple. The story of God’s redemptive plan as progressively revealed in the Old Testament is emphasized. If you have never formally studied the Old Testament, here is your chance to learn the “CASKET” method by teaching the Old Testament as story. Thousands of students have learned the Old Testament through CASKET, making the Old Testament come alive for them for the very first time.

OT200 Studies in the Pentateuch

Understanding the Pentateuch is essential to understanding the Bible. The course explores such historic events as the Creation, the Flood, the Exodus, and highlights the lives of the Patriarchs, Moses, and defines the core of Israel’s faith. Its grand themes trace the constitution of a people through the testimony of God’s calling, deliverance, covenant, and guidance. Its narrative vividly portray the acts of God and the varieties (and consequences) of human response.

OT210 Old Testament Historical Books

The course introduces Hebrew historiography and narrative (in English) and surveys Joshua through Nehemiah. It examines the purpose, themes and narrative flow of each book and sets each book within the greater context of the ancient Near East. Biblical interpretation strives to read history as a contemporary.

OT220 Old Testament Poetic Books

The course introduces the basics of Hebrew poetic convention, genre and distribution in the Bible. The principle focus is on interpreting the book of Psalms, but the course also lays the groundwork for understanding the prophetic use of poetry and reading poetry in historical contexts.

OT230 Old Testament Prophetic Books

The course introduces the institution of the prophet in biblical society and prophetic communicative technique including poetics and genre. It sets the writing prophets within their historical contexts, identifies the essence of their message, and highlights main eschatological themes.

OT250 Christ in the Old Testament

A survey of selected Old Testament messianic prophecies, as well as messianic types which are identified in the New Testament as fulfilled in Christ.

OT300 Studies in Genesis

Introduces the student to structure, genealogies, narrative of patriarchs, redemptive themes.
